The "Amethyst Crystal Skull" also known as "Ami", meets the appropriate specifications to be categorized as an Ancient Crystal Skull (believed over 1500 years old0. This is a single piece of amethyst crystal and is said to have been discovered along with a Mayan cache of artefacts in Mexico by a Mayan Brotherhood in the early 1900's. Reportedly it was part of a collection of crystal skulls held by the Mexican President Diaz from 1876-1910. Reports also state the skull was discovered in the Oaxaca area (Mexico) and was handed down generation to generation through an order of Mayan Priests.

The crystal skull "Ami" is carved from a very deep purple amethyst quartz crystal. It's unusual features include holes placed on each side where the jaw line meets the upper face, and circular inward-curving (concave) indentations where the ears/temple area would be located on each side. It also has a thin zig zaged center white stone line structure, seperating the amethyst in half, that begins at the lower front base, it then arches up and over the top of the skull to travel back down to the base, completing a full circumference of the quartz crystal skull. The Amethyst Crystal Skull resurfaced around 1979 when a Mayan priest/shaman, Francisco Reyes, purchased the skull. John Zamora, acting as agent for Francisco Reyes, brought the Amethyst Crystal Skull into the United States.

The laboratory at Hewlett-Packard (who had previously tested the Mitchell-Hedges Skull), carried out research and concluded that no high-pressure tools were used to carve this skull. The Hewlett-Packard laboratory reportedly also found that, like the Mitchell-Hedges Skull, it was carved against its natural axis, which authenticates the Amethyst Crystal Skull as being considered an ancient crystal skull, not an old or contemporary crystal skull.

This ancient crystal skull is currently kept in the United States although "Ami" cannot be seen by the general public. It now is said to reside in San Jose, California with a group of businessmen who are offering this skull for the sale price of A Million Dollar's!.
